On the way to a horse auction in Iowa, we stopped to visit with Bob Holcombe. In his basement lathe workshop I spied this band saw, and told Bob that I had a deal to buy the same machine some months earlier, but the seller double-crossed me. Bob made my day by selling me this one for a very generously low price. I have several other Darra-James tools and I like the idea of completing the restorations some day and presenting a family portrait.
The saw appears to be complete (except for the model tag) and in working condition, but I intend to reduce it to a pile of parts and rebuild it. It has beautiful, simple lines with a hint of deco, despite its probable 50s vintage.
Though the model tag is missing, the machine is identical to the model 595 entered by Tom Bozek.
