Comments:
I acquired this jointer from a woodworker here in Oregon who was cleaning out his shop. He had the machine for 20 or more years, but never set it up. He purchased it somewhere in the San Francisco Bay area and brought it north when he moved to Oregon. Note the Tatum and Bowen dealer tag on the lower casting operator side of the machine.
The original babbitt bearing square cutter head had been replaced with ball bearings and a two knife clam shell cutter. The seller threw in a ball bearing straight knife, skewed angle four knife cutter head which I have installed on the machine.

I have estimated the age (circa 1888) based on the 1888 C. B. Rogers catalog found on this site which shows the machine set up exactly as mine (except for the changed bearing/cutter head assembly). I also found an 1883 article and engraving introducing this C. B. Rogers hand jointer design, but the wedges for the tables look like pinned cams and the fence design is a bit different, so my version must have evolved from the 1883 introduced form. The only numbers I have found on the machine is the number "76" stamped on both tables (drive side) and on the table ways below the tables of the main casting.

The cutter head was originally driven by a line-shaft, but is now powered by a 5 H.P. electric motor which has plenty of power and runs smooth. This jointer easily flattens and leaves a clean finish on what is normally difficult to plane figured quater-sawn Oregon White Oak.
