As far as I know this was originally purchased by the Zeeland Wood Turning Works (Zeeland, MI) and later made its way into my dad's shop. Not sure when exactly he got it from the Turning Works but it was in his shop as long as I can remember. A some point the original Babbitt bearings had been milled off and steel plates attached to mount ball bearing pillow blocks - I removed the pillow blocks and mounting plates and added Babbitt bearings back on. The flat belt cone pulley had also been replaced with a "v" belt pulley and us kids had painted the casting a really awful tan color. With new bearings, cone pulley, clean-up and paint and some work on the base, it was ready to return to its original place under a counter shaft. About the only use it gets any more is cleaning-up banjo rims (plywood and tape on the faceplate), but like the other machines in this room, its an interesting experience to use.
