This single end Powermatic tenon cutter came from SE Wisconsin and had been stored for 10-15 years. The mice had found a favorite home in the base. Think high density housing.
I have to admit that i had no idea how they worked or if this one worked at all but found the owners manual on this website and away I went. Very helpful. Sent both cutter heads to GG Schmidt for sharpening as well as ordering an indexed head and 2 knives for the specific cope profile that a costumer wanted. Of course I needed to get the pattern knives ground to run in a 1.25'' shaper.
When everything was here it really didn't take that long to set up. These are very precise machines and make for a very strong deep mortise. The original hold down clamp was missing, so I rigged up pneumatic clamps...very easy to operate.
The attached photos are a good example of what a well adjusted tenoning machine is capeable of. One of the best investments in the shop. This one has 2 motors (two starters as shown). One for the tenoning and one for the cope.
Easy to move with base that accommodates a palett jack.
220v 3phase. Original paint and decals.
