I had a general Lathe wanted listing on CL. This was one of the offerings.
The initial picture made it look smaller than it actually was and the owner was not familiar with lathes. It is located in the Rochester NY area and I traveled the 2 Hrs to see it.

This has been in the family for 25yrs and was used primarily by the Grandfather for small brass parts used in his business. It has not been used in some time and is possible that due to family circumstances it will be scraped.

As you can see from the pictures it has a QC set up, thread gauge and taper attachment. What I would have expected as a second overhead cone pulley drive was gone. It was replaced with a utilitarian 3 phase VS speed drive.

Blind stamped in the bed on the tail end was H-840. I interpreted this as it was a 16" swing (I measured 15" my way) with 40" between centers. I am not sure if this is correct. Blind stamped in the bed on the head end was the number 32 which had been over stamped 31.
I ran everything except the power feed. QC gears needed clean up and lubrication. It had not been run in some time and needs a good clean up.

It is loaded with tooling not the least of which were two of the largest center rests I have ever seen. One was not for this machine.

Overall it was a pleasure to see it. I found the Apron/Saddle/Slide/Compound most interesting. I have not seen T slots before.
