I was checking out Craigslist to see what price table saws were going for in my area because I have one to sell. By chance I came upon this 12" disc sander that was along for the ride in a listing for a 10" Craftsman saw. I was intrigued because it looked a lot like a 12" delta sander on the itty bitty picture in the ad. I gave the seller a call and drove the 25 miles to his residence to take a closer look. I could see how much cast iron was in this sander, but didn't know what make it was. He said the tools he was selling belonged to his dad and he really didn't know too much about them. Right as he was explaining this I turned the sander on its nose and found the Sears tag. I was surprised because I never knew Sears sold a sander this heavily cast. I didn't know what brand of motor was on it because it was mounted with the tag on the bottom. After it made it home I found the motor was a Craftsman made by Packard Electrical Manufacturing Co. He started it up for me and it was running strong and quiet. I handed him 25 dollars and was on my way home with 66 lbs of old iron.
