Mystery Machine

I recently bought this drill press from the estate of a 91-year-old lifetime cabinet maker.

The only writing I can find anywhere on the machine are the words RUN and OFF in raised letters cast into the round switch plate cover. I can find no other writing (or logo, symbols, or arrows, etc.) of any nature.

I cannot find anywhere that a name tag or serial plate may have been mounted, say by drive screws. There is no “ghosting” to suggest this nor are there tiny holes that may have once held regular screws or drive screws.

The machine stands just a tad over 6 feet high. There is a good bit of cast iron. (There is writing on the bit chuck, but I'm confident this is the name of the maker of the chuck and not that of the drill press.

The cabinet maker lived in Birmingham, Alabama, a city known as “the Pittsburgh of the South” and home to steel-making and other heavy industry.

Can anyone help she some light on this mystery machine?

Thanks!

Ed Rouze
