I recently acquired two National Power Tools tilt-arbor table saws at yards sales (can't resist...). Saw #1, *the $5 saw* is a much simpler design than *the $10 saw*. Neither had a model number or year that I could find, but they have a '60's feel to them.

Saw #2 *The $10 saw*:

photo #1. This table does not have the side wings attached, but is obviously of better design. Not a particularly heavy casting, but presumably less subject to distortion than a non-cast top.

Photo #2. Again, an obviously more sophisticated design, which ought allow finer and more convenient setting of the blade angle. Also, these castings are heavier and don't have the possible points of failure that the casting in the $5 saw had. The screws also have stop nuts on them which did not exist on the other model. One possible lack here is that there is no mechanism that I could see to lock the angle or height of the blade. I suppose the pitch of the screw threads in combination with the springs on each shaft is intended to suffice. As I received the saw, both springs were weak, and the one on the tilt shaft actually had about 3/16? of free play and so was pretty useless. I plan to replace the the springs and shim as necessary to ensure sufficient tension. The two new-ish looking bolts at the left of the photo attach a separate motor bracket that tilts as the blade tilts to maintain the belt angle.

Photo #3" On this saw the tilt gauge is a casting, which looks classier but probably doesn't really add any functional value to the saw. At a glance you'd think the entire housing is a single casting, but in fact the gauge part is separate and is screwed on from inside the housing. Same name plate as the other model. The cutout here is entirely in the insert, which is about 3-1/2 in. x 9-1/2 in.
