Comments:
I recently acquired two National Power Tools tilt-arbor table saws at yards sales (can't resist...). Saw #1, *the $5 saw* is a much simpler design than *the $10 saw*. Neither had a model number or year that I could find, but they have a '60's feel to them.

The $5 saw:

This looks to me to be the same as the *Model 15* that another poster listed.

photo #1 shows the underside of the table - fairly heavy steel, but not cast. Channels for guides tack welded. At the bottom of the photo, what at a quick glance may look like a rib is seen to be a table extension wing bolted to the main table. Behind the hand wheel is a lever which tightens to pinch the housing between two large washers around the shaft of the adjusting screw, locking the tilt angle.

photo #2 shows that there is only a single screw for raising the blade. The tilt is accomplished by simply sliding the entire mechanism in the groove in the front of the housing, then tightening down the lever mentioned above. Yes, that casting was cracked at the obvious weak point and shows heat marks from the subsequent repair.

photo #3 shows the stamped metal tilt-angle gauge, the name plate, and another view of the tilt-locking handle. Also note the relatively small and rectangular insert in the opening for the blade. If you look closely you see that this is really just a plate that goes along side, rather than entirely containing the blade. The entire opening in the table is about 1-3/4 in. x 8in.
