I bought this shaper after deciding that it was in fairly decent shape and a good value at the asking price. I ended up developing a kind of sweet spot for the Craftsman pedestal machines after I brought this one home, although in this case, the pedestal design almost destroyed the machine. At some point somebody did not tighten the shaper collar against the pedestal and the whole unit slid down onto the top of the column, damaging the pulley, but it could have been worse. I haven't checked for run out since then.
