Comments:
This is a Delta light duty shaper. Delta made this same basic machine from the late 1930's through the late 1980's. My machine is pre-WWII [probably 1938 to 1941] as evidenced by the decal type logos and the patent data decal. The machine is unique in that it has cast iron belt guards [versus sheet metal on later machines] and is equipped with Delta's premier R. I. one horse power motor motor that has an built in reversing lever. This was a ground up restoration. All the casting and the stand were sand blasted, primed and then painted machinery gray. Unfortunately, the logo/patent decals on the machine and stand were lost in the process. The machine was purchased from the grandson of the original owner and has subsequently been resold to a woodworker in Indianapolis who appreciates classic machinery. These machine do not resell at very high prices because their function has been replaced by the modern router table.
