I bought this 10" Delta model 768 band saw from an estate auction in Tifton Georgia for $75.
This band saw was on a Delta 8" x 16" flared leg stand (not original welded type stand) with the optional casters, this stand fits several Delta machines and is a newer probably 1940's bolt together stand... the catalog number for this band saw on the original type welded stand with a motor is No. 777
This band saw came with a 1940's era vintage Dunlop 1/3-hp motor.
This saw uses 74" blades and shares all the beefy parts under the table for the blade guides/adjustments and trunions that are on the 14" Delta band saws.
This band saw weighs around 100lbs.alone and on the stand with motor about 140lbs.(all per the specs in the 1937 catalog)...this is a very heavy duty smaller band saw...this saw also sports the Delta 3 striped red logo.
I do not have any real accurate way to date this band saw as the water type stick-on decal on the back that may of contained a serial or model # is worn off and no metal tag was used, however this band saw is shown on page 5 in the 1937 Delta catalog on this site, this saw has soild cast iron wheels unlike other 768 versions on this site so I believe this on one of the earliest version of the Model 768 10 inch Band Saw.
There is another old sticker on the front lower cover the reads: Oliver H. Van Horn Co. Inc. New Orleans,LA.
I currently have a new Olson 1/8" blade on the saw and have replaced the original rubber tires with new urethane tires that I bought from Suffolk Machinery (800-234-7297) for $13.90 each...I added a metal switch box with a 20 amp toggel switch and a new V-belt.
