Found on CL March of 2013. PO purchased it from neighbor 10 yrs ago to restore, never got around to it. Before that it was used at General Binding Corp in Amelia, Va(still has the GBC asset tag), which purchased Virginia Laminating Company in 1962. Virginia Laminating was started by Frank Rudershausen in Amelia,Va during the 1940’s. The companies designed and built binding machines and held several patents for various binding techniques.
The good stuff - Nice Bench top with optional OE belt guard, Slow Speed Attachment, and Tilt Table. No slop in spindle!
The Bad - Wrong Motor installed - a 1/4 HP Wagner bushing motor was installed looks like mid 60's model. (Replaced with a period correct ½ Hp Kingston Conley motor). Light Switch motor control (Replaced with Cutler Hammer Deco switch), Cord/plug replaced.
Table ARC of shame - Missed the webbing, so it is plenty strong. May get it welded up or may just cover with woodworking table. 1 of the feed levers & knob were missing (Sourced replacement from WT serviced).
Rebuilding - found bearings were all in good shape. Just needed to wash out the dried grease and repack. Pounded belt guard straight. Stripped cast iron to bare metal primed and repainted. Replaced the belts. Polished all the shiny parts. Installed sourced parts and put into service.
