Comments:
The lathe was in good operating condition when I got it. After using it for a year I decided to completely tear it down. Every nut and bolt including headstock and gearbox was disassembled. The lathe was in amazingly good condition and built like a tank. The original motor and expanding pulley system was so loud and needed to be run off a phase converter so I decided to convert it to VFD maintaining all the original controls. Runs great. Smooth and quiet. I liked the look of the bare castings so I just coated them with shellac instead of painting but for now have left the base covers with the original paint.
