I purchased this Homecraft 4" jointer from a used tool outfit in Atlanta for $30 who did a quick spray can paint job to disply on the shelf. I had to install a 7/16-14 Heli-coil thread insert into the aluminum fitting that tightens the handle down for the fence tilt and also had to turn down the arbor shaft to 1/2" where the drive pulley fits due to it being all chewed up and not 5/8" in diameter any more. I also replace the original arbor bearings with new high quality set which cost about $18 at my local bearing supplier.
I've mounted this jointer to a used Delta 7" x 12.5" flared leg stand that I restored also, I bought the stand on an ebay auction for $36.77 and then put a new 1/2-hp Marathon Electric motor beneath it. I used the original Delta aluminum 6 1/2" motor drive pulley after I rebored it to 5/8" to fit the new motor shaft. The blades are brand new HSS Freud availble from Woodworkers Supply (800-645-9292) for $16.99 a set (item # 147-060). This jointer weighs 68lbs. and on the stand with motor about 116 lbs. which makes it portable if necessary...the overall lenght of the bed is 24 3/8 inches. This jointer makes perfectly square flush effortless cuts,is a joy to use and is a very well made all cast iron small jointer. The serial number on this jointer is H-8823 and was made in Milwaukee Wisconsin.Update 11/11/2008 I totally tore this jointer completely down and cleaned.polishied and repainted it in my own custom mix of 2-part Awl Grip paint in the older Delta gray color.
