I recently had the rare occasion to have both versions of Oliver's No. 135 segment gauge in the shop at the same time. The original version is shown on the top. The newer "improved" version is at the bottom. The original version's use relies on markings engraved on the saw's top. The "improved" version uses a scale attached to the gauge.
