This lathe was given to me by a friend. It had been sitting in his shed unused for ~20 years. Here is the information I know: the swing is 10", and between centers is approximately 20". Spindle/tailstock have MT2 tapers, and the spindle has 1"-8 threads. The only labeling anywhere on it is the motor nameplate:

Gen. Elec. Co.
Model No. 20004
Type SA
Frame 147
H.P. 1/4
S/N 2937733

Based on my research, this motor was made in the early 1900's through about 1930. The lathe has a 3 speed geared transmission, with a shaft that you move in and out to change speeds. It has been repainted at some point, and it looks like the original color was black or a darker green. Everything was in great working condition with only cosmetic cleaning required.

The family that gave me this lathe are direct descendants of R. L. Carter (one of the originators of the handheld router). They did not know how long the lathe had been in the family, but it is very possible it goes back to him. Many machines made by Syracuse Sander, one of Carter's companies, feature the same series of GE motor and similar curves in the casting. I believe that there is a good likelihood this lathe was a Carter design, but have been unable to match it to other photos anywhere.
