Comments:
I acquired this saw in a trade with another old tool guy. The person he bought it from used it for metal-cutting, so there was significant wear to the tires and wheels. It had an early large frame motor with 7/8" shaft. The motor was missing it's plate, but assumed to be 3 phase. Several missing parts, including 2 cast knob/cam assemblies and hinges for front doors and 1 L-shaped trunnion lock handle.
I managed to get everything apart despite years of neglect up until I removed the top wheel, when I noticed a hairline crack in the casting. Disappointing outcome - however, I found an identical Crescent 20" BS in my area a few weeks later in much better shape. I ended up with 2 saws and some parts to spare. Comparing the two, I now see this one was a better parts machine from the start.
