20” Flather lathe that I inherited from my father who picked it up back in the 1972 for scrap price, about $130. It was the “Cadillac” of it’s day around 1917. It is one of the lathes that I learned on. This lathe is in excellent condition and shows very little sign of any wear. The headstock has a huge heavy casting that supports the cone and spindle. The saddle casting is 3” thick. The spindle is 3-1/4”-4 TPI with a 1-1/2" through hole. Serial # 398. It was completely disassembled, cleaned and painted when moved from my fathers house to my home shop in 2010. Has a 15” 3-jaw Buck chuck, 16” 4-jaw chuck and a 15” 4-jaw chuck w/extra set of long jaws. Powered by a 3 horsepower single phase motor into a large 3 hp 5 to 1 gear reducer. #4 Morse Taper tailstock, large heavy castings, weight 4200 lbs. Very accurate machine.
