Please note this board tracker was built from just an original motor using what I could find to bring this machine back to life. I also added a newer 1927 Albion three speed transmission with a clutch and manual stick shift to actually make this motorcycle street worthy.
The motor is an ORIGINAL 1914 Mar Tan Single Cylinder. 500cc that just celebrated its 98th birthday! I purchased just the motor about five years ago and slowly had this motor completely rebuilt to original specs. New bronze bearings were machined and motor was taken apart and rebuilt complete using same piston with new rings and a new machined in cylinder sleeve. Valves were reground and seated. The magneto ( Bosch F1? ) has been completely rebuilt to new specks and has taken one and half years and 23 magnetos to make just one perfect one. The carburetor has been gone thru and been redone new. This motor and magneto were then Chrome plated and has never yet been fired.
The Frame was built from the best steel and done to closest specs available of a board track racer using actual old drawings. A custom tank was made, and then sent to be pressure tested and clear coated. The tank has never had any gas in it, it is new. The seat was formed and hand made by a custom saddle shop in Sothern California. The handle bars are original vintage bars, cleaned and re-chromed along with the mechanical linkage from the handle bar metal pipe grips to the outside of the bars. You will need to complete the linkage to the clutch and throttle. The transmission is an old Albion imported from England and it has a manual hand stick shift and that was taken apart and inspected and is in great condition. The clutch was taken apart and new pads were installed so the clutch is in new condition. The tires and wheels and front forks are new aftermarket and I chose to do this because I was building this board tracker to actually ride on the streets. Keep in mind most original board trackers had no gear box, but I have decided for riding purpose this would be a nice addition. The gear box is approximately from 1927. The chain and primary sprockets need to be aligned to be true to the engine to transmission to rear wheel. It is all there just need adjustments and alignments. The rear hub was also custom built and actually has a coaster brake inside the hub. (Original board trackers had no brakes)This is a motorcycle that was built out of parts and slowly assembled within a five year period. Just having fun with this old Mar Tan
