This came from the Minneapolis school system and still has a school tag. The prior owner had taken it apart to restore and never put it back together. It is a close match to the planer in the 1926 and 1927 advertisements found in the images section. 1 HP 3450 RPM cutter motor, 1/4 HP 1140 RPM feed motor, 3 phase. I have a VFD on the feed giving variable speed, it leaves an excellent finish.

Feed motor and end casting. There were remains of a similar decal on the skirt, where the sun's rays penetrated the "Solem"

Cuttimg motor and head on my bench. The long "nose" is part of the motor casting. Inside is a keyed coupler supported by two bearings, the motor shaft and the cutterhead shaft slide in from each end.
