I spotted this band saw behind a machine shop on the way to work from the train. Poor shape, missing parts and 3 phase to boot. The wheel guards are in the dirt. My first thought was parts until I found it had a working gear box. When I opened the gear box I found a cracked spur gear that had been weld repaired and recracked. I lucked out and found a replacement localy. I say lucked out because I had already been sucked in on the rebuild. Rule #1: take machine completely apart before sinking more loot in it. The upper wheel and axle were from one of the Rockway twins. The upper wheel guard was part of a swap with a neighbor. Wrong Delta badge but what heck, its beter than the weld repaired guard which didn't have a tag. The motor 1/2 hp 1 ph 8-1/2" frame motor I salvaged from an old Delta 8" TS 4" jointer combo that was beyond all hope of repair. The BS has been sand blasted, painted and completely rebuilt.
