This lathe was spotted on the Canadian Government "Crown Assets" auction from September 2012. Lathe was in the machine shop of the boatyard at Selkirk Manitoba, which was built in 1929. (It appears that all assets of the boatyard machine shop were auctioned off.)
Here are the details from the crown assets website:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Manufacturer: R. MacDougal Co
• 20" swing x 12 ft
• Belt driven
• Approximate weight 700 KG
• Successful purchaser is responsible for dismantle and removal of lathe and all belts and pulleys
• Working condition when taken out of service 2008
R. MacDougal Co Metal Lathe
Sold For: $275.00
-------------------------------------------------------------
( Note: Weight estimate is not accurate.)
The lathe was line shaft driven, by a very large electric motor. (Fairbanks Morse 15/25hp, 220volts, 60 amps, 3 phase.)
