I won an Ebay bid in 2007 for a Rockwell Unisaw for $239 (seller was local). The guy selling the saw was a cabinet maker and was doing a relative a favor by selling it for them. The description on Ebay was for a used Rockwell Unisaw from a high school shop that had been sitting outside behind the shop for several years. Supposedly, as advertised everything was there......basic unisaw, motor, rails, fence, starter and stated "needs some repairs". When I got there, the saw frame and table top were intact, and not to deteriorated, the motor was not a unisaw motor(some 1/2 hp junker), no rails could be found, broken fence and at closer examination a cracked front trunion and a decent miter gauge. The cabinet maker said I could pass on the sale if I didn't want the saw, but I decide to take it anyway. Later that week he called me, because he found the rails and brought them to my office. I started my first restoration 9 months later. I got real lucky....I found someone selling a front trunion on Ebay for $18 plus shipping and a week later another Ebay sale of a unisaw motor(Baldor 1.5 hp) for $189 (picked up locally).
I began reviewing everything I could about restoration......checking lots of websites and OWWM is where most of the help came from. Working weekends and some evenings during the winter of '08-09 I finished it in 3 months.
