I acquired this lathe near Columbia, TN back in the summer of 2012. I forgot to take pictures of it before I restored it. It looked absolutely awful. It looked so bad I couldn't operate it. I have since sent to South Bend, through Grizzley, and have received a copy of the original purchaser which was a high school in Detroit City, MI. I don't know if it is the original motor but it has a 220 volt, single phase. The motor is reverse capable but I have not wired it as yet for that purpose. It is in pretty good condition to be 73 years old. They surely don't make them like they used too!
I have quit buying the new foreign made "stuff", if stuff is even the proper name for it now, and seek out the older American made machinery and restore it. Dollar for Dollar its far cheaper in the long run and gives better quality servive.

If you have a South Bend Lathe, you can go online and use it to tell when it was made.
