Comments:
I acquired this machine in 1979 from a person who had retired from a shop where he worked and operated this machine. Upon retirement, they gave him the machine. Since that time I have operated it less than 24 hours total if you added it all up. It is absolutely the best metal band saw that has ever been made of this type and size. I have kept it stored in the dry but in unheated buildings, thus some surface rust has occurred but has not hurt it. It needs to be cleaned and painted of which I am in the process of doing now (August 2016). These band saws are expensive to purchase. New ones today that are very similar cost around $4,500 dollars. This one today is probably as good as the new ones you can purchase now. That being said, and unlike most machinery producing companies that now produce cheaply made products out of the United States, Roll-in saws are still American made in Cleveland, Ohio.
Some mistakenly use the wrong Model Number for their band saw. If the band saw uses a 9 foot blade, it was manufactured between 1959 and 1985, and is a Model SF 8590. If it uses a 10 foot blade it was manufactured after 1985 and is a model EF 1459. I obtained the information that distinguishes the two models directly from a factory representative. The serial numbers to these machines is located at the rear of the saw on top of the bars that the table is mounted on. I jacked the machine up and welded some rubber tire casters to it. Make a world of difference if only to clean around. But a whiz to move it to a different location.

Comments: Shows front of band saw. Still has padding the operator told me he used to keep his knee from getting raw as that was how he pushed the lever down which pushed the saw back. He must have been on a production line.

Comments: Side view showing how the machine operates. There is a counterweight on the otherside that is adjustable which slides back and fourth that determines how much pressure forces the blade into the metal to be cut. Once set,the operator can leave the machine
