Comments:
This lathe was acquired by W. F. Stone & Sons boat yard in Alameda, California in 1942 to fulfill wartime contracts. It was rescued from the scrap metal drive at that time, and rehabilitated. I used it regularly through the mid 70s while I worked there, and it was still in use when I visited in 1985.

Comments: I took this in 1975, while turning the bearing seat in a stainless steel weldment for the rudder bearing in the Natoma. The 4" flat belt drive from the motor in the rafters was a chronic hassle!
