Found this Delta 17in DP600 from a fellow in Indianapolis Indiana. He stated that the machine was purchased new by the Carter Lee Lumber CO. of Indianapolis Indiana. The serial number of 26-577 dates the machine to 1943. The machine is all original and includes both the table and head, raise/ lower gears on one rack. It also includes the original foot feed equipment, although with a shop made stop. It has the original 1hp repulsion-induction motor. The standard table has been drilled and tapped for mounting vise. It also has a unique shop made on/off rod. All badges and labels are there and readable. It also wears a poor, dusty, coat of pea green paint. Machine looks to have had been cared for and seen only light duty for its first 69years. I hope to be its conservator for a good part of its next 69 years.
UPDATE 6-2015
Machine has been completely rebuilt with all new bearings in head and complete motor rebuild. Paint has been color matched to original. All nuts & bolts have been cleaned/polished, all moving surfaces oiled or greased. It now has a separate raise rack for the head and table to allow both to raise & rotate independently. The table has been replaced with a T-slot table and light has been added. Should be good for the next 70 years.
