Aug 11, 2011: Purchased this green Yates American bandsaw J-120-353 from a woodworking company going out of business in Hickory, NC listed on irsauctions. Pictures gave some indication of condition but upon arrival noticed that someone had torched out two holes in the cast iron base to allow for forklift access...something quite unbelieveable to see because the base was broken in half. The brake system was broken and mostly missing. To bring it back to life I rewelded the cast base and patched up dust collection holes cut in the tin and repainted. Replace original YA 3ph 1h motor with 1.5hp 1ph. Handmade the electric box and installed a motor starter.
Year: 1940's (based on earlier serial of (sn: 353) no but of course just a guess)
Motor: 1.5hp 220V 1ph (1hp 220V 3ph)
Blade: 12’ (20” saw)
Will update the pictures as saw becomes restored.
