Comments:
I purchased this from a hardcore metal fabricator/welder who does some excellent work. He wanted a mill so he sold me this press. I was looking for something "made in the USA" and this caught my eye. After getting it home and standing it up in my small garage I realized just how huge this thing is. Not to mention how much it weighs. The chuck was replaced with a lower quality unit so I found a original jacobs chuck, and the motor was a less than desirable unit (small and foreign) so I finally found one of the same vintage and quality of the press. A 3/4 hp old school made here in the USA. It will need rebuilding soon but for now it is perfect. I am still looking for a early on/off switch for it. HOping to find a Allen - Bradley switch. The base was made by the fabricator and works excellently. It made it easy to move and even easier to level and secure in one spot. Nice work DH. The table is drilled through but the base is excellent and the tray height adjusting assembly is in excellent condition also. Everything just needs to be stripped and refinished. I will be waiting to tackle that next year after I finish my small bench top drill press. I almost purchased a bench top version of this 18 but it slipped away. Interesting that I could not find a quill/spindle lock. Should there be one? The press seems to be in excellent working condition and besides the switch and depth stop it seems to be complete.
If anyone has any definitive information on the specs of this unit please let me know.

Comments: just a in place shot of the buffalo No. 18. Not it's permanent location. Nice rotating tray. It does have a few holes drilled in it though.

Comments: before I found the replacement /current motor. The motor that was with the unit when I bought it was very under sized with a small arbor. The pulley had to be rigged to run. I did not like it so I opted to take it off until I found a suitable replaceme

Comments: the motor being fit after my welding attempt. I still need to weld tabs on the bottom also. I think it is close to being level though. Should I have put the pulley on with the other side up??

Comments: The motor badge. Not original but I think it will do. Does anyone know what the factory used on these presses? Size, specs, manufacturer?
