I picked this up at an estate sale this morning. PO was a retired Dentist who had a complete wood/metal workshop. This was not represented in the photo registry and I was unable to pull any info on it from any other source. I will add that it weighs 40+ lbs. I lugged it about three blocks to my vehicle in addition to another tool I picked up.
Unique oil ports. The hole in the port has a long piece of felt cord that Runs down into the bearing like a wick. The small chuncks of felt you see on the table (in photo 3) are placed at the bottom of the port and then the two circular felt plugs are placed back into the port. They fit very snug. I'm assuming oil is applied to the felt and it seeps down. There is a small hole in each plug to assist that flow.
Edit: True manufacturer has been identified and noted.
Edit: I have donated this to the Labor & Industry Museum in Belleville IL. The museum was the home of the manufacturer, Mr. Born in the mid 1800's.
