This little grinder showed up at our local flea market yesterday. I don't know how to place its vintage, but I'll communicate with Sioux to see if they can help me. If any readers can contribute to that quest, thanks! According to the manufacturer's history on this web site, Albertson started in the late teens and changed its name to Sioux Tools in the 60s. Somewhere between those dates this machine was made, and from the looks of the motor tag I am guessing it is from the 30s or 40s.
It has a 1/4 HP motor, a 1/2" arbor, and very tight bearings that make a little noise. I'll open it up and check those. The eye shields and one tool rest are missing but it runs very well when wired around the original very badly aged power cord.
10-23-2012 Edit: From email communication with Sioux Tools; their records indicate this grinder is from the early 60s. LDH

This image of the tag is after a great deal of cleaning and paint removal. Lots of wear damage.

I wonder if this plug and wiring can help to date the machine.
