Comments:
I acquired this at auction last weekend and only know that it came from a local estate. I could not resist because I thought it had great looks and a good price too! Currently, it has a 1 hp modern single phase motor and I did cut a board with it when I got home. Condition is pretty reasonable and bearings seem pretty good. I cannot find one like this on the site or anywhere on the web, so I thought perhaps the group has an idea what it is. The legs are cast iron with bolt ears cast into the inside of each. The motor mounting board is attached to them now but it appears that the board may have been added to the machine. I am wondering if there was a treadle mechanism originally in the base of the machine where the motor board now hangs but have no idea?? I only think this because of the wide stance of the legs and the mounting tabs ao I am speculating a bit. The bottom drive wheel has the belt pulley cast into it and was cast for a round belt (similar to the old treadle sewing machines but larger diameter) which I thought was a bit unique as well. A v-belt seems to turn the machine O.K. The wheels are 17" in diameter. Does anyone know if 17 inch tires are available and from where? I can find no mfgr. or numbers/tags on this machine anywhere. Not sure what I will do with this one yet but sure would like to figure out maker and age if possible for a start. Table is with the machine, although not in the photos, and is cast iron with a blade hole of approximately 1 inch diameter. Although probably obvious by the photos, the covers were home built, and the bottom guide bearing appears to be someone's later addition as well. Any thoughts or information would be appreciated.
