There are many examples of this machine in this photo index, and here is another. This came with no history, from my friend Mike's wonderful collection of old stuff. He got it years ago at auction. The moving parts move, but the upper plunger casing is damaged and it is missing the hex guide post, footplate assembly, and air blower tube. I have read that these parts may still be available through Delta, but I shall do an OWWM/VM search in case members might have spare parts from extra machines.
The saw looks like models that have been identified in posted Delta publications as 1440, but that single-speed model was supplied with no stand, which this saw has. This machine has the sliding motor base plate, but no multi-speed assembly. (Unless it does, that is, and I suppose I will learn more when I take it apart. That happens later.)

Delta has good serial number records. Thanks to Keith Bohn's research and writings.
