>>MACHINE<<
Power-Bronze Sears Craftsman 8" belt driven bench grinder, built by Double A Products.
The guards on this particular machine can be rotated and locked into different positions.
The rest of the grinder is basically the same as the ball bearing model 109.66110 (the 109.66120 is the bronze bearing version of the 66110.)
Cast iron body, machined pulley, guards and one-piece tool rests.
The levers operate cams that lock the guards in rotated position.
The thumbscrew engages one of two divots in the body casting. One is in the normal position (as shown).
The other position has the guard opening upward, with the tool rest being more level, at a steep angle.
A previous owner cut a small section away from the lower left edge of the guard (presumably to do some side grinding operation).
The right hand tool rest has been weld repaired and the left detent screw is missing.
I plan on cleaning it up, replacing the bearings and putting it to work.
>>HISTORY<<
Fellow OWWMer Stefano Cavallucci found this grinder along with a Craftsman 115.6962 motor on his local Craigslist.
Knowing that this was one of my quest machines, he offered me the grinder and kept the motor for one of his applications.
He shipped the grinder to me in July 2012.
UPDATE-7/7/2014: Completed.
Washed all castings in Zep Purple.
Rustoleum gray primer (spray can).
TrueValue X-O Rust - Bronze XOP (spray can SKU 125798).
Chrome levers, bolts, washers & lock knobs - buffed with Scotchbrite EXL wheel, polished with red rouge compound on spiral sewn cotton wheel.
Bakelite knobs - polished with red rouge compound on spiral sewn cotton wheel.
Original Craftsman tag was replaced with identical one from a parts machine.
Tag was cleaned with mineral spirits and sprayed coated with Krylon Crystal Clear.
Steel shaft and nuts were de-rusted using wire and Scotchbrite EXL wheels.
All external steel and chrome parts were sprayed coated with Krylon Crystal Clear.
The original drive screws were reused on the tags.
New NTN 6204ZZ ball bearings were installed.
SEPTEMBER 2023: Sold to a local OWWMer.
