Comments:
This amazing machine was spotted on eBay, and was such a beauty that we asked and received permission from the seller to post pictures of it here on the VM site.

This is a 48" angling band saw, also known as a ship saw, which has been restored. These massive machines can handle up to a 3-1/2" wide blade, and are powered by up to a 20 HP motor. The saw can be rotated up to 45 degrees forward or backward from vertical on the frame, which allows for bevel cuts in both directions. The angle can even be changed while the saw is running, which allows for some very complex cuts (such as you might need to make when ship-building).

Please check the 2nd listing for a few more closeup photos of some area.

Our thanks to allanstruck for giving permission to post this machine!
