I was in the market for a table saw and was searching the net for every brand and comparison article out there. I was on a limited budget ($500-700). This left me in the contractor saw arena. I then read a post on one of the woodworking forums about looking into cabinet saws pre 1970. Well my wife searched craig's list for our area one day and found a Delta table saw. Not much infomation in the article except the price ($300), blade size (10") and motor hp (1hp). Well a 1hp motor and a great price got me to call and take a look. The saw was part of an estate sale and the seller was a friend of the estate's family . He was just helpping them out by selling the saw and lathe. I took a look and sure enough it was an early Delta cabinet Unisaw. Cast iron top with wings. To the untrained eye, it was a monster and old!! I was not looking for cabinet saws but this interested me. I told him I'd have to think about it, came home and looked up the saw and found this website!!! It was great with all the pictures and info on reconditioning, upgrading and using old Delta unisaws. Well I took another look, the saw ran smooth and true. The machine was in good condition even 30+lbs of saw dust in the bottom. Well I talked the guy down to $250 and took home my FIRST table saw and my FIRST Unisaw. My pics of what it looks like today are below. It will be a blast to use and i look forward to having this saw out live me (I'm only 27 and I think this saw already has live two of my life's) Well can anyone tell me what year this model is specifically???
I think its a 1948. The model number is 73-815. The motor is a 1725 RPM, single phase, type SR 1hp motor.
