I'm posting these pictures now in response to Mr. Dan Grade's posting pictures of the Brackett Model K mortiser, which is all but identical to my machine. There are several pictures of Oliver 194's posted already, but they differ slightly from mine (and the Brackett) in several ways, so I thought it would be informative and interesting to post pictures of mine. There are no tags on the machine, so I can't conclusively determine the actual model or serial, and can't even identify the motor manufacturer. I am assuming it is an early model 194. I've exchanged emails with Mr Grade and I concur with his theory that Oliver must have bought the rights to this machine from the Brackett Company when they went out of business.

These are very capable small mortisers that don't take up a lot of floor space and don't require a lot of electrical power. If you need a small mortiser, and one of these pops up, don't hesitate to buy it. You won't regret it. I bought this one about 25 years ago and have been using it in my hobby shop ever since. I am way overdue to take the machine apart, clean it well, and get rid of the ugly paint.
