This machine is a foot operated mitre shear (trimmer), used for making wooden trim pieces for doors and windows etc. There are two blades set at 45 degrees from the back plate and at 90 degrees from each other so that the operator can shear the end of one board or prepare both sides for a corner with a single shear. A coil spring within the pedestal returns the machine to the "ready" position when the foot pedal is released after a cut. It is in working condition and can be seen being used in the carpenter shop at Lang Century Village, Keene, Ontario.
The nameplate identifies it as "Manufactured by Clark & Demill, Galt, Canada" and "Sold by the A R Williams Machinery Co Limited, Toronto, Can."
