The machine was purchased from the Smoot Lumber Company in Alexandria VA by the Annandale Millwork Company in Springfield VA as a spare parts machine for their American Wood Working Machine Number 5 that was used for production work up until 2008. I purchased both machines at auction and utilized the good parts from one machine as casting patterns for the broken parts on this machine. I have only one set of indexing rails. The basswood indexes are shop made as they determine the distance separation for each louver. Both machines are in fine working order and I continue to manufacture both interior and exterior shutters for restoration contractors around the region.
