This South bend lathe is a 16"x6' catalog #117c I found this lathe in the east coast of Canada in an old machine shop.It was originally ordered for a Military base in 1942. The grandfather was the area machinist when he pass away at an old age his grandson then got the house and sold off a lot of the big lathes I got this one for $800 with any tooling that should go with the lathe and if I could find it in the shop! I took my book "How to run a lathe" and went searching I found just about every attachment ever made for the lathe right down to the tooling to make springs!I totally dis-assembled the lathe then steam washed it and slow assembled it returning it to the original condition. It was 110 volt I changed it back to 3 phase 220 with a modern 5hp new belts, bearings, new bronze bushing in the quick change gear box and I also nickel plated all the part that were originally plated. Another lathe saved!!! The before and after pictures are included. I use the lathe often and it works well.
