Comments:
My Dad bought this motor in 1941, probably to use on the farm. Sometime in 1941, he bought a Dunlap Bench Saw through the Sears Catalog, which he used with the Craftsman motor. The farm that they lived on had no windows on the back side of the house, which faced toward the creek. My Grandmother told me that the indians used to travel the creek, and if you had windows that they could get to , they would come in your house. By 1941, that no longer happened, so the first thing my Dad did with his new saw was install a window in the back wall. He built the first house that my parents lived in from 1946 thru 1958, certainly using the saw and motor. I remember him using the saw in the garage workshop when I was little. Now my husband and I are getting it ready to use in our garage workshop. The motor needs only a new cord, when it is turned on, it purrs like a kitten, even after sitting idle for the last 30 years. As you can see, it has a reverse switch, not sure what you need that for. When we have the saw and motor back together again, I will post more pictures. The pulley on the motor has a price of 56 cents marked on it!
