Found in a small cabinetmaker's shop as he was downsizing. There are only a few of these listed, but a couple others are also known. This footprint on this mortiser seems to be about as small and compact as there is. Significant searching was required to find a suitable replacement return spring inside the column, but once that was solved the rest was fairly standard restoration work. The unique motor, though, did require some additional attention to get all the pre-loads and other oddities correct. I have the motor set up to use a standard drill chuck, but the machine also came with the original steel sleeve chisel holder for use instead of a chuck.
