Does the word formitable mean anything to you? This is one huge 40" shipsaw.

Info. if from current owner:
Purchased by Lockheed Aircaft to saw aluminum beams, not wood. Picked up at an auction about 1998 and now resides in El Monte, CA (few miles from Los Angeles).

The huge motor is 15HP and power runs through a variable speed drive to lower wheel via dual-width chain drive. The entire carriage tils the blade through 45 deg. by means of and air motor. Compressed air drives a fan-turbine that positions the upper carriage.

The lower wheel has been removed for transportation. When installed, it extends below the bottom of the base. There must be a hole adjacent to the saw base to clear the lower wheel.

The sign on the machine states it is a 40" model. I did not measure it, but suspect it to be a 42" as shown in the other Turner shipsaw pics. loaded here, and the basic info. on the company listed here on OWWM...
