This unit was in average shape for its age. po was only a 1 1/2 hr away when purchased through kijiji. I stripped it down to bare ,replaced both bearings, new paint, new belts, and had to re straighten the belt shroud. I added castors, as it is a heavy unit and so the castors make it a lot easier to maneuver in the shop. I am still looking for some 1'' aluminium plate to make a safety guard for the cutter head, the Idea of using a piece of plywood doesn,t turn my crank. I tried something new on the crank handles, where I put them on my lathe, polished them a bit and applied a liberal coat of gun bluing, they came up quite nice. I got ahold of General and they were able to give me the Man. date , But were not able to provide any paper goods , If anybody has as such info it would be appreciated. Motor was semi stripped, blown out, greased and checked over , runs just fine, considering it was dropped at one time and the vent casing was cracked and rewelded but was a real snake to remount as it must weigh close to 75 lbs, tag was worn quite a bit so reading was quite a eye strain but,I believe it reads 2hp and a speed of 1750 rpm, maybe someone would be as kind to verify if they know of this particular model. I took my straight edge to the top, checked and cross checked the tops and at this time I see no point in having it reground. I still need to create some shrouding for the dusty end , but have fired it up, dry and it shows no sign of being untrue. It will be a welcome bonus to my shop, up sizing from my 6" walker turner.
