I found this locally on Craigslist. It is an entry level lathe but interesting because of the overdone styling, and the fact that it is aluminum. I think it may look good on the wall of the shop after a bit of polishing...
It is crude, with a "step pulley" composed of separate single pullies. It has a 12" swing and will turn 40" between centers. The centers slip over a 1/2" shaft on the headstock and tailstock and are held on with a setscrew and flat.
I could not guess the maker of the lathe until I happened on an ad identifying it as a Darra James Product. See the history section of this manufacturer's listing.
