Given to me by a co-worker. History unknown. The saw was originally for wood working but has been converted to metal working. This saw has wooden rims on spoked metal wheels. Bearings for the drive wheel are babbit, poured into a cast iron housing that is adjustable both horizontally and verticalllly. The upper blade guide shaft rides in babbit and the keyway is machined tapered to keep the shaft from free falling when released. The upper wheel has a brass bearing which was most likely a modification from original babbit. The original upper and lower blade guides have been replaced with fabricated ball bearing guides. The cast iron frame was a rough casting that was smoothed using filler material before being painted. Table castings are superior to the frame and still show the planer machining cut pattern.
