The Vari-Slo was way up on my wish list, and after several years spent searching I found one on the local CL. Pretty rough - it'd been stored outside for 5+ years, but the price was right - $50 - and the Vari Slo was complete. The DP was missing a motor and had a stuck quill, the head was rusted solid to the column, as well as other functional and cosmetic issues, but I was thrilled to get it. Extensive rebuild followed with near-total disassembly, new bearings, paint, and a lot of rust removal. Added a period C'man motor from an estate sale and she now runs great. I love the look and the ability to change bit speeds without having to adjust belts and motor mounts. This is a great machine and one I plan to keep and use.
