I am the third owner of this machine. It came from the lab in an electronics company and was purchased by one of the employees for use in a small machine shop he ran after he retired. When he finally closed that shop I picked it up to replace my 1947 Walker Turner radial drill. It was in pretty good condition and I left the original paint, just cleaned it up with Simple Green. I replaced the single phase motor with an ½ hp Walker Turner 3 phase and added a VFD. This is my favorite drill press and it gets a lot of use. This is one of the later models and has several updated features over the original Walker Turner models including a 6" spindle travel, quill wear adjustment, and increased column length for greater clearance over the table. The two tone grey paint scheme is original.
