My son found this old drill press at a yard sale and offered it to me for restoration. It's an early "triple duty" machine that could be used for routing, mortising, and drilling. Photos 1-3 show it in the three configurations. After a complete cleaning, derusting, polishing, repainting, and lubrication, it runs well. The motor could stand new bearings. The top bearing has been replaced, but the quill bearings were fine.

It's unlikely that anyone would use the machine as a router, even with the suggested larger single-groove motor pulley to boost RPM; however, I wanted to set it up once that way for historical interest.

As for mortising, it's necessary to purchase old style collet inserts and bits, because the new style mortising bit shanks are undersized. (Most modern bits are made for dedicated mortising machines which hold the bits in three-jaw chucks. Accordingly, the manufacturers of bits no longer specify diameters for the bit shanks.) I found this after purchasing a number of components to complete the mortising kit!

Acquired the chuck from another member. The machine is great as a drill press; has very acceptable runout.
